Baseball training gloves are designed to make players better at fielding. Catching the ball is only a small part of the action. It is a full motion that has to be fundamentally sound and as fluid as possible.

How Baseball Training Gloves Work
Baseball training gloves work to get the fielder to catch the ball on the right part of their glove. They were initially designed for infielders, but can be used for just about any position other than catcher. Learning how to field the ball and get it out of your glove in the correct fashion is crucial.

The training glove is going to be much smaller than a normal glove. This will make the player field the ball in a smaller section. Your hand eye coordination will adjust so that the ball is fielded according to the training glove so that when you use your regular glove, you will act as though the training glove was on. This will give you a large margin of error.

The main purpose of the training glove is to position the ball high up in the glove so that you can get it out to make a throw as quickly as possible. If you know where the ball is going to be every time, you can develop a fluid motion. Consistency can create a effective fielder.
